The coach
Matt Dallman
Matt has spent the past 26 years in soccer. He grew up in Hood River, Oregon, and came up through club soccer with West Villa, FC Portland, Westside Metros and IMG Academy, coached by players from Manchester United, Aston Villa, West Ham and the Portland Timbers.
After three seasons as a midfielder at the University of Portland, he played nine years professionally in Germany and the United States, under coaches like Morten Wieghorst (Celtic, Danish national team) and Jörg Böhme (2002 World Cup finalist with Germany).
His last three seasons with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds included the club's academy: individual training, group sessions and full-team coaching. That is where player development became the job.
Matt credits his career to the foot skills, early development and European-style training he received as a kid. That is exactly what he teaches in Portland today.
